Chandler

Mike and Chandler
The highlight of our trip was Jeju Island, where my Mom spent three years as a refugee during the Korean War. She has many stories of that time- living in an Army issue tent with her three brothers and her parents, along with another family. Living on what they could catch. Watching the native divers (Hanyeo), women who in those days wore only cloth swimsuits and simple masks, and used gourds as flotation devices. Nowadays there are so few of them left, and they are in their 50's and 60's, as the younger generation has found other work or has left the island.
